Gentle Steps to Help You Feel Ready and Relaxed.

Preparing for your baby’s circumcision should feel calm and manageable, not stressful. There is very little for you to do, you are not expected to prepare anything complicated. This guidance is here simply to help you feel reassured and gently prepared, so you know what to expect on the day. Our role is to support you and care for your baby with patience, experience and kindness, while your role is just to be present and comfort your baby. Everything is explained clearly at your pace and we are always available if you have any questions or need reassurance before the appointment.

Before the Appointment

Feeding

Please avoid feeding your baby for around 1 hour before the procedure.

Cleaning

A gentle bath earlier in the day is recommended.

Dressing

Dress your baby in comfortable, easy-to-remove clothing.

Attendance

Both parents do not need to attend; consent can be signed in advance. There is an option to stay outside during procedure if one prefers.

What to Bring

Nappies

6 Nappies, 1 size larger than his usual size.

Muslins

2 muslins for hygiene purposes.

Baby Wipes

A packet of baby wipes for hygiene purposes.

Red Book

Personal Child Health Record Book, for medical information.

On The Day

On the day of the procedure, everything is kept calm, gentle and well-organised. The circumcision itself is quick and carried out with great care and experience, always with your baby’s comfort and safety as the priority. Many babies settle very quickly afterwards and are comforted by being held and soothed by their parents. You will be provided with a clear written explanation of what to expect. We are always available to answer any questions. we take a friendly, reassuring approach and will gently support and calm parents if we see they are feeling nervous.

A Gentle Reassurance for Parents

There is nothing complicated or demanding expected of you. Your most important role is simply to be there for your baby — offering comfort, closeness and reassurance. We are here to guide and support you before, during and after the procedure, and you will never be left feeling unsure or unsupported.
